news item a couple of weeks ago, an ad that was placed in
Video Store Magazine and
Video Business - two home video industry periodicals - provided cover art and a release date for us on
The Wire - The Complete 1st Season, the unvarnished, highly realistic HBO series that follows a single sprawling drug and murder investigation in Baltimore.
Since placing that ad, which was aimed at letting retail accounts know that the title was coming, HBO Home Video has made a few updates. Since the goal is to make sure that the DVD street date is timed to the start of Season 3 on HBO, they have pushed the release of the compilation back from late August to a new date of
Sept. 21..
They also updated the cover art just a bit, adding the words "Listen Carefully" to the bottom of the design we showed you previously:
The studio should be widely announcing this title either today or tomorrow, at which time we hope to have more information for you about specs, disc content, extras, and the like. Stay tuned, and we'll let you know what we find out.
