CBS and distributor Paramount have officially announced
Walker, Texas Ranger - The Final Season. As
we've told you,
June 14th is the street date for this set, which is now confirmed at 6 DVDs. Running time is 1065 minutes.
We've talked about this set as being the "9th Season", but the studio seems to be callilng it the "8th Season". That makes some sense, because if you closely read the episode guides (such as
the one at TVTome), you'll see that the "first season" is really just 3 episodes - one of them the double-length pilot telefilm - which aired in the Spring '93 timeframe, before the first full season debuted in the Fall of the same year. Okay, we'll buy into that. But we hope to see "The Complete 1st Season" come to DVD soon, bearing all 28 hours of show that ran from April 1993 through May 1994!
While we stay tuned for that, here's the studio's description of
The Final Season release, plus a look at the packaging and DVDs:
Chuck Norris ("Sidekicks") stars as Texas Ranger Cordell Walker in this one-hour drama. Because of his martial arts skills, he has a competitive edge against the bad guys. With the help of C. D. Parker (Noble Winningham, "City Slickers"), a retired Ranger, and Alex Cahill (Sheree Wilson, "Dallas"), the county assistant district attorney, he ruthlessly fights for justice.
