Early in December we
reported that Timeless Media Group ("TMG") was working on DVDs for the first season of the classic western starring James Drury,
The Virginian. We passed along word from the studio that the first season's run of 30 episodes, each 90 minutes long, would be broken into a pair of 2 sets, with 6 DVDs each. TMG told us to expect these on
March 9th, and Amazon pre-order listings for
The Virginian - Season 1, Part 1 and
The Virginian - Season 1, Part 2 continue to show that date.
We are now told my TMG that these titles won't be available for general release on that date after all. A new general release date has yet to be determined, but hopefully it won't be too long of a wait. In the meantime, TMG has decided to make both sets available in a limited fashion. The studio has always had an arrangement for their titles to arrive early (over the years we've heard anywhere from 1 to 3 months early!), exclusively to members of the Sam's Club chain of club stores. TMG plans to release both "Part 1" and "Part 2" sets for the first season of
The Virginian to Sam's Club, and also to the Costco club chain, "around" the March 9th date. You can also look for it to be available at TMG's website.
