As every Transformers
fan probably knows by now, Shout! Factory is gearing up for a June 16th DVD release of Transformers - Complete 1st Season: 25th Anniversary Edition
(and if you haven't seen the new trailer clip at Amazon's listing there, be sure to check it out!). They're also putting the finishing touches on their "complete series" Transformers - 25th Anniversary Matrix of Leadership Edition: Collector’s Set
, which will be introduced at the San Diego Comic-Con International, running July 23-26, 2009. Now we've learned that they are preparing two more releases, both of which you can expect in September!
The first one will be a single-disc, bare-bones budget-priced release of Transformers - More Than Meets The Eye
. This DVD will only contain the first 3-episode storyline which launched the original "G1" series, and two additional episodes (see below). The exact price of this 115-minute title hasn't been revealed, but we're expecting it to end up roughly around the ten or fifteen dollar range. It will be available on September 1st

], but here is the studio description, followed by info about the other September release:
Four million years after crash-landing on an unfamiliar planet, sentient robots with the ability to disguise themselves as common vehicles awaken on present-day Earth. Desperate to find a new energy source for their home planet of Cybertron, Optimus Prime and the heroic Autobots must defend their new friends - Spike and Sparkplug - and the innocent people of Earth against their archnemeses, Megatron and the power-hungry Decepticons.
Transformers - More Than Meets The Eye is the 3-part story arc detailing the beginning the battle between good and evil on Earth. This single disc release also features two bonus episodes "Transport To Oblivion" and "Roll For It." 5 action-packed episodes on 1 DVD. The Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen feature film, directed by Michael Bay, is in theatres June 26, 2009. The DVD arrival in stores in Fall '09 will mark the second wave of the Transformers frenzy. This single DVD - priced to move quickly - offers theatrical fans an easy entry point into Generation One Transformers entertainment.
Following just two weeks later, on September 15th
, is Transformers - Season Two, Volume 1: 25th Anniversary Edition
. This 4-disc set with 28 episodes picks up where the first season set leaves off. Cost will be $29.99 SRP for 660 minutes, plus bonus material to be announced later. Amazon has a pre-order listing
for this item, but at the moment it strangely shows a public title of "The continuation." We're sure that will get fixed up pretty soon, though. As with the other new item,
we don't have package art so far
[NOTE: SEE BELOW
], but we do have a studio description. Here's that, and stay tuned for further updates:
