From the creative minds of Academy Award (Gosford Park) and Emmy and Golden Globe (Downton Abbey) winner Julian Fellowes, and BAFTA-winning producer Nigel Stafford Clark (Bleak House), comes the highly anticipated ABC Premiere Event, Titanic, a four-part miniseries that will premiere SATURDAY, APRIL 14 and SUNDAY, APRIL 15 on the ABC Television Network, marking the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the RMS Titanic on April 15, 1912. Titanic is an extraordinary re-telling of the doomed voyage that cleverly weaves action, mystery and romance over four hours and two nights of programming.
Shot in Budapest, Hungary, it features both fictional and historical characters, ranging from steerage passengers and crew to upper class guests and staff, who all come together in an explosive and unforgettable finale. Each hour follows similar events from different points of view, culminating in a cliff-hanger, as the ship begins to founder, and building to an explosive conclusion in the final hour that draws together all the stories. Viewers will be taken on a heart-wrenching journey through Titanic's last moments, as it's revealed who among the characters they've come to know so well will survive, and who will not.
On April 24th, just a week and two days after the mini-series airs its finale in the USA (which will broadcast on the 100th anniversary of the historic tragedy), eOne Entertainment will release the 4-part 2012 production of Titanic on DVD and high-def Blu-ray Disc. The cast will be a mixture of both known and unknown faces, but a few actors in the show you might recognize include Toby Jones ("Dobby" in the Harry Potter films; The Hunger Games), Jenna-Louise Coleman (Captain America: The First Avenger; upcoming companion in Doctor Who), and Ruth Bradley (Primeval).
eOne will release this title 3 different ways: as a DVD-only release ($29.98 SRP), as a Blu-ray-only release ($34.98 SRP), and also as a Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack ($39.98 SRP). All three are available to pre-order from Amazon.com using the button link below, and under that is the package cover art for each version (starting with the foil o-sleeve on the 3-disc combo pack). The 2-disc DVD version comes with widescreen video, and English 5.1 Surround Sound. The 2-disc Blu-ray version comes with 1080i widescreen video, and English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. Both have English subtitles, and extras consist of a Making-Of Featurette, a Behind-the-Production Featurette, a Photo Gallery, and a Documentary called "The Curse of the Titanic Sisters."
