Ten days ago, on
November 15th, Amazon.com quietly listed a spectacular (and seemingly exclusive) package called
Star Trek - The Ultimate Collection. It is made up of every
Star Trek series (and film) released on DVD to date, in their most recent DVD incarnation:
This collection sold at Amazon for the healthy sum of $2499.99, a price at which you wouldn't think could cause a quick sell-out. Nevertheless, if you visit
Amazon's listing for this item, you'll see that it currently says, "
Availability: THIS TITLE IS CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE. If you would like to purchase this title, we recommend that you occasionally check this page to see if it has become available. " That's Amazon-speak for "we're sold out of it right now and we don't know when - or if - we'll get it back in stock." Wow, it seems amazing that this would sell out in just ten days!
Amazon would not comment to us about how many units were initially stocked and have sold through, but the person we talked to seemed optimistic that this would be available again fairly soon. So if you're interested in getting this - and why wouldn't you be, as it represents a 30% savings over the $3539.84 SRP of getting these box sets separately! - then just keep checking back in with Amazon and see if they get more of these astronomical bundles!
