Two weeks ago we
broke the news that Paramount was planning a July release of
Star Trek: The Next Generation - The Picard Box Set. This morning, DVDEmpire reports on details for this release, and puts it up for pre-order at the same time.
Overnight, we received a communication from Paramount that informed us that the release had shifted from July to August. But you won't have to wait long, because DVDEmpire shows a street date of
August 3rd. They show a running time of 360 minutes, and describe the release this way:
A compilation of seven of the best Star Trek: The Next Generation episodes featuring Patrick Stewart as Capt. Jean-Luc Picard.
Plus From Here To Infinity, a documentary of space exploration, hosted by Patrick Stewart, available exclusively on DVD with this collection.
The entry doesn't mention a disc count, but with all that content this will surely be a 2-DVD package. Which episodes are on this item? Neither DVDEmpire nor Paramount has stated that yet. However, it's a good bet that it will follow the same 7 episodes released on the overseas version of this release: "Allegiance," "Captain's Holiday," "Darmok," "The Inner Light," "Starship Mine," "Lessons," and "Bloodlines." Don't hold us to that list, though; anything can change when a studio makes different releases for different regions.
All of this coolness will run you a mere $19.99 SRP, according to DVDEmpire. But the early Ferengi gets the profit: you can
pre-order it from DVDEmpire right away, and lock in a price of just $13.39. Engage!
