A couple of weeks ago we broke the news about Morningstar Entertainment's May 6th DVD release in Canada for Spider-Man - The Mutant Agenda. At the time we had a small, fuzzy look at the package art, but now Morningstar has provided us with a nice, large picture of the box that you can see below. Note at the top of it that this release is now marked as being a "limited edition", so we're not sure how long it will be on the market. I've already pre-ordered my copy from Amazon.ca of this release, have you?
We're still not crystal-clear on the exact content of this release, but a couple of our readers may have helped us out immensely on this! Thanks goes to "Ryan" of HBShows.com, and to David Eggert. Both sent us separate e-mails noting that the cover art for this DVD release is exactly like that of the identically-titled VHS release from Telegenic Entertainment, which apparently came out around the late '90s. We found a picture of that item here, and - as Eggert noted - it says "100 minute animated adventure" on the front cover (as you'll note the DVD release does, below). That's even though the actual running time seems to be 95 minutes, as noted by Morningstar in the trade ad for the DVD we showed in our previous report, and as timed by Eggert for his personal copy of the VHS.
So it seems logical that these are the same releases, then, and therefore it's worth noting that the content of the VHS contains 5 episodes: 3 from the 1994 "Fox Kids" Saturday morning cartoon version of Spider-Man, and the 2 bonus episodes with "Iron Man" turn out to NOT be cross-over episodes from the same Spider-series, but instead are from a two-part story in the separate animated Iron Man program (starring the voice of Robert Hayes, Airplane!) that ran on Fox Kids around the same time. That, of course, has to do with wanting to tie this all in to the new Iron Man feature film coming out around the same time this DVD hits. Here's the list of episodes found on the VHS, and presumably on this DVD as well (original broadcast airdates shown are courtesy of TV.com):
