Happy Thanksgiving to all of our USA readers! Our holiday gift to you this fine Turkey Day, and for tomorrow as well, is a cornucopia that's stuffed full of rumors about TV series that are new to DVD on Paramount/CBS's 2007 slate. But first, we have word of a returning favorite that fans have been asking about. Why, just yesterday (and believe me, it was entirely a coincidence!) reader Jeff Conklin wrote in asking:
"I watched Soul Food when it was on Showtime and really enjoyed it. I was wondering if you could find out if the other seasons were coming out anytime soon. I call Paramount Studios a year ago and they said that they had a lot of requests for the other seasons. They were on for 1-5 seasons and I saw every episode. Could you look into that for me?"
Jeff, there's no need for us to do any research on that. Our industry sources surprised us recently with word that the studio is eyeballing a possible 2007 release of
Soul Food: The Series - The Complete 2nd Season, along with a re-promote of the first season, released on DVD in June 2003. This is quite nearly as long a delay as we saw Sony have
with Mad About You, but we know fans won't mind as long as they can finally get more seasons! If this sells well, we can expect Paramount/CBS to very likely finish off the run of the show.
Please remember, though, that this should be treated as a rumor, and that no formal announcement has come from the studio. Everything's subject to change, so take it with a grain of salt until it becomes official. Stay tuned, and we'll let you know when and if that happens!
