Early last month we broke
the exciting news that Universal Studios Home Entertainment and Time-Life are teaming up to bring both
The Six Million Dollar Man AND
The Bionic Woman to DVD. No official statements have been made from the studios, but word on the street is that the way things have fallen out, Steve will make the leap over to Time-Life, while Jaime will stick tight with Universal for her DVD releases.
But the word on the street that's REALLY interesting concerns a possible opportunity for fan participation on one of the extras for the
Six Million Dollar Man set! For previous DVD releases, Time-Life put together on-camera testimonials from the fans. Next weekend, on May 28th-30th (yes, that's Memorial Day weekend), Pasadena's Convention Center in Pasadena, CA is hosting the
Rockin' Comic Con. Rumor has it that on Sunday, May 30th there will be a production crew on hand at the convention, to videotape
Six Million Dollar Man bonus material along these lines. This info has NOT been officially confirmed by the studio, but trusted sources do tell us that this is gonna happen!
It's still too early for extras to be finalized so far, though, so please take it all with a grain of salt...here at TVShowsOnDVD,we're not able to "promise" that any footage will be recorded (or used, if it gets recorded). Everything is still in the works, and nothing is for-certain yet. Just like the release timeframe, pricing and even configurations aren't set in stone at this time (for either show). But the grapevine is ripe with gossip that both studios are aggressively pursuing extras for these titles, with the goal in mind to make fans super-satisfied with the results!
So if you're able to visit the convention on Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, head on over and try to find the cameras, and see if they're talking about Bionics. Talke about the show, your favorite characters and cast members, toys and other collectibles you may have had over the years, and any other stories and/or questions that you might have for them. Who knows? Maybe you'll share supplements space WITH the cast and crew...all of whom we are each hoping will be able to find the time to participate on those extras.
We're keeping a sharp eye out for official information about these releases, from the studios OR from our friends in the industry. We wish we could tell you more, but right now it's just to early to do that. Stay tuned, though, and we'll keep you updated and often as possible!
