Our friends at The Digital Bits website have
posted their annual "Bitsy Award" winners, the best DVDs (in their opinions) of 2006. Several TV-DVDs where honored in the group. It's nice to see their thoughts on what constitutes the best items in certain areas:
- Editors' (Bill, Todd & Adam) Picks: Deadwood - S2, SNL - S1, Groovie Ghoulies and Rome - S1
- Best DVD Packaging: Buena Vista's Alias - The Complete Collection
- Best Minor Studio: BCI/Eclipse, the studio behind He-Man, She-Ra and other Filmation titles, plus many more TV-DVDs
- Best Retro Saturday Morning DVD: BCI's Dungeons & Dragons
- Best TV Series Presentation: Universal's Saturday Night Live - Season 1
- Worst Special Edition DVD: Classic Media's Harveytoons - The Complete Collection
Fascinating, eh? Want to find out why many of these got chosen? Want to find out what TV-DVDs were runners-up, in these categories and perhaps in some others? Then head on over to The Bitsy Awards page, linked above, and read through it. Our thanks to our friends at The Digital Bits, especially Bill Hunt, for another annual no-nonsense look at what the home video industry did right and wrong last year. You may not agree with all of it, and you may wail at something being left off that you felt deserved a mention, but all-in-all, a good job if you ask me!
