Columbia has pulled an April Fool's trick on us, by continuing to deny us season sets of Married...With Children. Today they announced an April 1st release of "Married...with Children - The Most Outrageous Episodes! - Volume 2." No details are available yet, other than a running time of 110 minutes, which is four minutes shorter than the first volume, and a list price of $19.95.
On the other hand, it's no April Fool's joke that "Dawson's Creek: The First Season" is coming on the same day - April 1 - in a 570 minute, 3-Disc set that lists for $39.95. Commentary tracks are being recorded by the Creator and the Executive Producer. The "trick" here might be this: the aspect ratio will be 1.33:1 "fullscreen," for a series that is reported by the IMDB to be shot in 1.78:1 widescreen.
Rounding out the list of Columbia TV-on-DVD releases for the first day of the fourth month are a couple of KidVids: "Bear In The Big Blue House - Live!" and "Dragon Tales: Let's Start A Band." Both will be available by themselves, or with an as-yet-unspecified "premium" for a few dollars more.
