Since we
were just talking about the daily poll today at the Internet Movie DataBase (IMDB), we thought it would be fun to mention a couple of recent polls they've had. Both are related to the TV-on-DVD field:
The
June 25th poll asked "(Which) TV series you really, really, really want on DVD?" The results:
- Other 2501 (34.5%)
- Seinfeld 1859 (25.6%)
- The Wonder Years 588 (8.1%)
- The Fresh Prince of Bel Air 278 (3.8%)
- Lois & Clark: The Adventures of Superman 275 (3.8%)
- Charmed 249 (3.4%)
- Taxi 233 (3.2%)
- The Golden Girls 218 (3.0%)
- Beverly Hills, 90210 182 (2.5%)
- Miami Vice 171 (2.4%)
- The Cosby Show 169 (2.3%)
- The Wild, Wild West 151 (2.1%)
- Hill Street Blues 129 (1.8%)
- The Rockford Files 114 (1.6%)
- thirtysomething 83 (1.1%)
- 7th Heaven 49 (0.7%)
A total of 7249 votes were collected.
Mind you, that's waaay out-of-sync with TVShowsOnDVD results, but then again it's a much smaller sampling against a different audience. Still, it's no surprise that
Seinfeld is rated so high. Watch for it's release later this year, along with that of
Taxi and
7th Heaven for sure, and we also expect
Miami Vice and
The Golden Girls before too long as well. Reportedly, we'll see
Charmed, Beverly Hill 90210, and The Rockford Files next year.
The other recent one worth mentioning is the
June 9th poll which asked, "(What is the) TV show you never needed to know was available on DVD?" Survey says:
- Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman 1294 (17.6%)
- Saved By the Bell 1109 (15.1%)
- Boy Meets Boy 1037 (14.1%)
- Dawson's Creek 755 (10.3%)
- The Dukes of Hazzard 553 (7.5%)
- Just Shoot Me 497 (6.8%)
- Land of the Lost 461 (6.3%)
- Other 349 (4.8%)
- Little House on the Prairie 333 (4.5%)
- Party of Five 257 (3.5%)
- Thunderbirds 248 (3.4%)
- The Monkees 185 (2.5%)
- SWAT 117 (1.6%)
- Sanford and Son 91 (1.2%)
- Starsky & Hutch 60 (0.8%)
A total of 7346 votes were collected.
Yeah, yeah...some of my favorites are on that list, too. Ah, well...it's just for fun! Laugh it off if some of your faves were on there, especially if it was at the top of the list (what's wrong with
Saved by the Bell or
Land of the Lost, anyway?).
We'll have to keep a closer eye on the IMDB daily poll, since it looks like TV-on-DVD topics are cropping up lately. Stay tuned!
