Two weeks ago we
reported VEI's upcoming release of
In Search of... - The Complete Collection was scheduled for release on
October 23rd, per a pre-order listing at Amazon.ca (the Canadian branch of the e-tailer; see button link below). At the time the entry there showed a CA$134.99 SRP cost, but now it's been revised to say CA$99.99 SRP is the list price. Package art is also showing at the listing, but it's a medium-resolution shot of the box. A short time ago today, VEI has kindly sent us a nice high-res image, which we have for you here.
The studio has also confirmed that the 19-DVD set will include all 144 installments (six seasons) hosted by Leonard Nimoy (who is completely in these episodes and, as previously reported, is also contributing a new Featurette to this release as an extra). The two Rod Serling-hosted specials which aired prior to the start of the regular Nimoy series, "
In Search of Ancient Astronauts" (based on Erich von Däniken's book
Chariots of the Gods), and "
In Search of Ancient Mysteries"...which is the source of the "146 episode count" seen on the outer package shown below. But as a special bonus, VEI is also including all 8 episodes of the short-lived 2002 series, hosted by Mitch Pileggi (
The X-Files)!
The title's release date and cost supposed to be the same in the U.S.A. as it is in Canada. But Amazon.com, the U.S.A. branch, hasn't yet listed the title for pre-order. In the meantime, State-side fans of this show can log in to Amazon.ca with their Amazon.com username and password, and pre-order the set from there if they prefer. The e-tailer will take care of the exchange rate at the time you're charged (which shouldn't be until the item ships), and send it across the border (might take additional time due to customs) to your doorstep.
