February 17, 2009 - Shout! Factory has a treat in store for aficionados of classic television and DVD collectors! Celebrating the 35th anniversary of the two-time Golden Globe® and Primetime Emmy® Award-winning sitcom Rhoda's initial premiere on network television, the highly anticipated release of Twentieth Century Fox Television's Rhoda: Season One debuts on DVD for the first time on April 21, 2009 from Shout! Factory. Brimming with all 25 wise-cracking episodes, this 4-DVD set contains a special DVD bonus feature titled "Remembering Rhoda", in which show creators James L. Brooks and Allan Burns look back on the creation and success of Rhoda. Rhoda: Season One is priced to own at $39.99.

Created and executive produced by the illustrious MTM team of James L. Brooks and Allan Burns, Rhoda, starring Golden Globe® and Emmy® Award-winner Valerie Harper (Mary Tyler Moore Show, Valerie) along with Emmy® Awards-winner Julie Kavner (The Simpsons) and Emmy® nominees Nancy Walker (McMillan & Wife, Mary Tyler Moore Show) and Harold Gould (The Golden Girls, Dallas), premiered on CBS television in 1974. Rhoda's first season garnered a Golden Globe® Award for Best Comedy Series. Valerie Harper won a Golden Globe® and an Emmy® Award for Best Actress in a Comedy that year. Rhoda would go on to win our hearts during its five-season run.

A popular spin-off of the beloved Mary Tyler Moore Show, Rhoda begins as Rhoda Morgenstern (Valerie Harper) goes home to New York for a visit. When she unexpectedly meets "the" guy, Rhoda decides to move back. Joe Gerard (David Groh), the ruggedly handsome and divorced owner of a demolition company, is Rhoda's perfect match. The couple works hard to keep their relationship solid in spite of - and sometimes because of - nonstop interference by Rhoda's manipulative mother Ida (played by the brilliant Nancy Walker), her needy, depressed sister Brenda (Julie Kavner), her loving but ineffectual father Martin (Harold Gould) and, of course, Carlton the Doorman.

In the first season, the one-hour special episode "The Wedding" reunited Rhoda with her old pals from Minneapolis - Mary Tyler Moore, Ed Asner, Cloris Leachman, Gavin MacLeod and Georgia Engel - in an episode that drove ratings through the roof. This episode includes one of the show's most memorable scenes: Rhoda taking the subway in her wedding dress to her own wedding after ditzy Phyllis (Cloris Leachman) forgets to pick her up. The rest of the first season focuses on Joe and Rhoda's honeymoon, apartment hunting, Rhoda's work as a window dresser, and dealing with her ever-present family. Season one guest stars include John Ritter, Norman Fell, Linda Lavin, Howard Hessman, and cast of The Mary Tyler Moore Show.

Rhoda is a Twentieth Century Fox Television production.
