Yesterday Lionsgate Entertainment
announced that
Power Rangers Samurai is coming to DVD on
June 19th, with 2 releases:
Vol. 1: The Team Unites and
Vol. 2: A New Enemy; each of them on a single disc for $14.98 SRP per title. Fans have been wondering about the content of these two titles. While we don't have actual episode names for you, we do have this new word from the studio giving an episode count, info about extras, and word that the packaging will have an outer "o-ring" slipcover to it:
Each DVD, both featuring foil O-card packaging, contains four episodes of the show and is loaded with special features including auditions, behind-the-scenes training, character and weapons galleries, bloopers and more.
We've also been asked by a number of you about whether this show can be expected later on in a season set release, or in Blu-ray Disc format, or both. Lionsgate has announced nothing like that at this time. If they do, or if we hear anything from credible industry sources, we'll let you know as soon as we can. But considering that these releases are for a current ongoing show and are mainly aimed at kids, it makes sense that the studio is starting with low-cost items that non-fan parents won't mind so much buying as an impulse item. Stay tuned and we'll let you know if anything changes!
