This coming Monday, NBC debuts their new thriller series, Persons Unknown. Even before it hits the air, though, Fox Home Entertainment is soliciting retailers with a DVD release of Persons Unknown - Season 1. Note that no Blu-ray version has been mentioned so far, just a standard DVD. Video is listed as widescreen, audio is listed as "English 5.1 DTS HD Master Audio" (which is usually a Blu audio spec, so this is probably an error and the audio will likely turn out to be DVD-standard 5.1 Dolby). English, French and Spanish subtitles are also listed, and the running time shown is 610 minutes for 13 episodes. Bonus material, if any, wasn't provided. Neither was package art, but we'll update you as soon as we know more. In the meantime, we have the description below for you to read through. The release date for this 4-disc set is August 17th, and the cost is $39.98 SRP in the USA and CA$49.98 SRP in Canada. Stay tuned for further developments!
The eclectic group of strangers are Charlie Morse (Alan Ruck, "Spin City"); Janet Cooper (Daisy Betts, "Shutter"); Joe Tucker (Jason Wiles, "Third Watch"); Bill Blackham (Sean O'Bryan, "Six Feet Under"); Moira Doherty (Tina Holmes, "Six Feet Under"); Sergeant Graham McNair (Chadwick Boseman, "Lincoln Heights"); Tori Fairchild (Kate Lang Johnson, "Days of our Lives"); Erika Taylor (Kandyse McClure, "Battlestar Galactica"); Mark Renbe (Gerald Kyd, "Casualty"); and Kat Damatto (Lola Glaudini, "Invincible").
While being held hostage, the strangers are constantly watched by omnipresent "security" cameras with no idea who or what is behind them. Every attempt to leave is thwarted by unforeseen circumstances, which seem to derive from mysterious forces. At every turn, these strangers-turned-comrades are threatened physically, psychologically and emotionally.
Their chance at survival is to rely on each other. But who can they trust in this vulnerable state - either behind those cameras or amongst themselves? Their decisions will have moral and ethical consequences, as alliances are forged and relationships brokered. With twists and turns at every corner, you can unlock the mystery and discover even more spine chilling thrills on DVD.
UPDATE: Amazon.com has added a pre-order listing for this title. There's no additional information there, but you can lock in your copy at a discount right away!
