Late last week we reported
that Married... with Children - Seasons 3 & 4
is coming out on DVD from Mill Creek Entertainment, at just $14.98 SRP for a 4-disc set, on April 1st
. At the time we passed along word that this release "Contains the original theme song "Love & Marriage" by Frank Sinatra!
" (quote from studio sources). This is also true for the individual Season 3
and Season 4
sets ($9.98 SRP each) that Mill Creek is additionally releasing on that same date.
However fans recalled - as we described in our 2005 story
on the matter - that Sony's original release of the 4th season had 7 episodes that were not the original broadcast versions, but rather had been the edited-down-for-syndication edition of those episodes ("Dead Men Don't Do Aerobics," "Buck Saves the Day," "At the Zoo," "Rock and Roll Girl," "You Gotta Know when to Hold 'Em: Part 1," "Peggy Made a Little Lamb" and "Rain Girl"). Sony had been forced to used the syndicated episodes on their DVDs for those 7 episodes, in a situation connected with their replacement of the show's original opening theme song.
And so our readers wanted to know, of course, if the fact that the theme song is restored to all of the episodes on Mill Creek's upcoming releases, what about the episode lengths? We checked in with the studio about that, and we have GREAT news for you! Mill Creek has verified that - because there is no longer a need on those 7 episodes to use the "syndicated cut" versions on the new DVDs (due to "Love & Marriage
" being back in place) - therefore the studio can now offer the full episodes on DVD, at the original running times for each of those 7. YAY!!!
So, whether you own the previous Sony DVDs or not, it's very worth your while - if you're a passionate fan of the Bundy clan! - to pre-order your copy
of Mill Creek's upcoming DVD set. We're still waiting on finalized package art, so stay tuned for that!
