A week ago we
first reported that
Lost - The Complete 3rd Season: The Unexplored Experience would be coming to DVD this fall, and showed off a small peek at the box art for it (which you can see again to the right). Now the folks at Amazon.com have
a pre-order listing for it, with a release date shown for
December 11th. Sound like a long wait? Don't forget that the new, 4th season of
Lost won't start until early 2008, because of the plans to show each of
Lost's remaining three seasons as an uninterrupted run of 16 episodes each. The DVD release date is close enough to the new season to help with marketing, but also in time for the holiday gift-giving season.
You can lock in your copy right now with a pre-order, though: SRP shown is $59.99, but Amazon's current pre-sale price is just $41.99! Stay tuned for Disney/Buena Vista's official announcement, which we expect tomorrow; we'll update you if there's any additional information. That will be a DVD-only announcement; don't expect a Blu-ray release of this title (or the other ABC dramas for release this Fall) too soon. Our heartfelt thanks to reader Jason Larson for finding the Amazon.com listing and the release date with it, and for taking the time to e-mail us with that!
Update: The Hollywood Reporter reports the following about extras:
"...The 23-episode, seven-disc set comes with a one-on-one with star Matthew Fox, a featurette on "The Others," a documentary chronicling 24 hours in production and a selection of never-before-seen flashbacks. Also included are behind-the-scenes looks at 10 episodes, audio commentaries, deleted scenes and bloopers."
The writer, our old friend T.K. Arnold, also mentions a Blu-ray version in that story, but we have heard otherwise and we're checking with the studio. It's probably too late in the day to expect a response but we will make the effort. And update you in the morning either way. Thanks to reader Dan Linzmeier for the heads-up!
