Yesterday we
broke the news that RHI Entertainment and distributor Genius Entertainment are releasing the original (and 7 Emmy-award-winning) 1989 mini-series
Lonesome Dove in a newly remastered "
2-Disc Collector's Edition". This is coming for both DVD and high-definition Blu-ray Disc, and in yesterday's story we told you to expect it on August 19th.
Since then the studio info has told us that the dates, originally provided by retailers, was not correct. The actual street date for
Lonesome Dove - 2-Disc Collector's Edition is
August 5th, a full two weeks earlier! All other info was correct; we only had the date wrong.
Around the same time, our friends at DVDEmpire contacted us to say that they had updated both their
DVD and
Blu-ray Disc listings for this set, showing the earlier (and correct) release date. Our thanks to them for letting us know!
At the time we originally wrote up our story, Amazon only had a
Blu-ray pre-order listing, but late yesterday they also set up a
DVD pre-order listing as well. Unfortunately both still show the incorrect date of the 19th, but we expect it to be updated to August 5th in the not-too-distant future.
