Law & Order fans were flabbergasted, as well as pleased, at Universal's recent
announcement of a 104-disc collection of
Law & Order - The Complete Series, with all 20 seasons on DVD, coming out on
November 8th. But many of those fans have been collecting this show as individual season sets, with 1-8 already on the market, along with "
The 14th Year" (which was released at the end of that season's broadcasts, outside of the normal chronological order). Will fans still be able to get the separate seasons, if they prefer? Well of course they will, silly! After all, every season is produced for DVD to include with
The Complete Series, so all universal has to do is put those same discs in a separate "season set" DVD case and get stores to stock it. Right? Right!
And the studio isn't waiting very long to continue with those season sets, either. Today Universal Studios Home Entertainment announced that
Law & Order - The 9th Year will be in stores on
December 6th, just about a month after
The Complete Series set ships. Guests include J.K. Simmons (recurring), Bellamy Young, Richard Belzer (as "Detective John Munch"!), Leighton Meester, Holt McCallany, George Murdock, Frank Vincent, Oscar-winning film star Julia Roberts, Mark Linn-Baker, and Joe Piscopo. This 5-disc set running 1098 minutes is presented in widescreen video, with English Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo Sound and English subtitles. Cost is $59.98 SRP, which is ten dollars more than Amazon's pre-order listing (see button link below) has been showing. Here's a look at the packaging:
