Back in 2009, while
Season 2 DVDs were already on the market from BFS, we
passed along word from the BBC that the DVD rights to the first season (series) starring Stephen Fry happen to lay with another studio besides BFS. They also said to expect that
Kingdom - Season 1 DVD release sometime in 2010. However, even though BFS released a
Season 3 set that year, the first season never made it to market.
This past Friday, while they were still anticipating what the opening ceremonies to the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London would look like, the folks at the BBC America Store blog
put up a new post with a long-awaited update about that title. According to the new write-up, "
...we turn our thoughts briefly to the much anticipated DVD release of Kingdom Season One. This delightful comedy drama stars Stephen Fry...The DVD is expected to street in the fall." Since there were three seasons (series) made for this program, this will be the final one in the show's run. No specific date is available yet, nor any other details, but stay tuned!
