THE SONG OF THE CLOUD FOREST features a blend of music, puppetry and animation resulting in a vibrant landscape of color that echoes the natural beauty found in the real world's rain forests. Starring a brightly colored cast of puppet animals, the show celebrates the beauty of this natural environment, while educating about the real dangers threatening the survival of both the rain forests and their inhabitants. Jim Henson's THE SONG OF THE CLOUD FOREST features a vibrant blend of music, puppetry and animation in a unique celebration of the rain forests - released for the first time ever on DVD, and just in time for Earth Day!
In 1989, NBC aired the short-lived anthology series
The Jim Henson Hour. This hour-long prime time show ran for 12 episodes, providing an outlet for various material produced by the Henson Company. The second half hour of the program's 7th episode was a piece titled "Song of the Cloud Forest," which told the story of a golden toad named Milton. The segment proved popular enough that the production of the 10th episode, "Secrets of the Muppets," included a behind the scenes look at the making of Milton's story (that episode didn't air on NBC, but was seen later on, at Nickelodeon). Further, "Song of the Cloud Forest" was edited into a stand-alone special which aired by itself on cable television's Odyssey Network (which was jointly owned by Henson and Hallmark).
