Tonight we have word of a quick update on the
Here's Lucy best-of set we
reported on a couple of weeks ago.
Thomas Watson of the excellent site LucyFan.com (and I'm not just saying that because he gave TVShowsOnDVD a plug - but thanks, Tom!) has dedicated
this week's column to the subject of all things
Lucy on DVD. He has a lot of good info, including the tidbit that
I Love Lucy - Season 2 may have slipped to March or April, instead of the February date we'd been hearing.
But the more substantial update was about
Here's Lucy, and has several points of interest: info about closed captioning, an episode count, and a probable delay. Let's read it in Mr. Watson's own words:
We have been getting mail from the hearing-impaired who are concerned about the upcoming Best of 'Here's Lucy DVDs. At this writing, the 4 disc set is not scheduled to be "closed captioned." Apparently, the captioning would add a sizeable cost to the production of the DVDs, and producers are hesitant to commit to that at this time.
The set, which will include 24 episodes of Here's Lucy, plus a lot of bonus material, was originally slated for release during "first quarter, 2004" -- but may be delayed until May. Again, we will keep you posted as more definitive information becomes available.
Thanks again to Thomas Watson for the update. And also thanks to Mykol Gantt for writing in and making sure we saw this.
