Since 2004, there have been
numerous DVD releases of the 1984 series,
Heathcliff & the Catillac Cats...a show whose name is often shortened to just "
Heathcliff" - even on DVD boxes! - but which should not be confused with the original 1980 show that is also popularly called
Heathcliff for short. But there's a better reason for that bit of shorthand on the earlier production: the program ran for two seasons, and had a different official series title in each.
Season 1 ran 13 episodes and was properly called the
The Heathcliff and Dingbat Show, while the second (and final) season's 12 episodes were officially named as
The Heathcliff and Marmaduke Show. Neither season of this program, produced by Ruby-Spears and starring the voices of Mel Blanc and June Foray, has yet had an official DVD release in the United States.
Now the Warner Archive Collection is changing that this coming Tuesday,
August 14th with their manufacture-on-demand (MOD) release of
The Heathcliff and Dingbat Show on DVD! Containing all 13 episodes, USA customers will be able to buy it next week from the studio's WBshop.com online store for $24.95 SRP. It is NOT up for pre-order at this time; we don't expect the listing to be visible there until Tuesday. We expect this title to be available later on to global customers via Amazon's CreateSpace MOD program, but no dates or prices are available for that yet. Here's a sneak peek at the cover art:
