Ten days ago we
told you that CBS/Paramount had announced that
Gunsmoke - Season 1 would be released on July 17th. Since that time, the title has disappeared off of the schedule that's posted at the studio's password-protected press site. We've dug around and tried to find out what the story is behind this, but no one we were able to reach has any info about that change.
One industry friend of ours feels that the studio may simply be moving dates around to spread things out and keep from releasing too many products at the same time, especially on the same date. This sort of thing happens on a regular basis, and as well all know a date change isn't unusual in the DVD world. The title probably isn't canceled, per se; it's likely just delayed and ought to return to the schedule soon. If it does, when it does, we'll certainly let you know. Stay tuned!
