This past July saw
the release of the first-ever
Fraggle Rock DVD, called
Where It All Began. Sold exclusively in Wal-Mart stores, it contained the first three episodes of the series, and a bonus episode of a Swiss claymation-style show called
Pingu.
Now HIT Entertainment is ready to bring the same release out in a new Special Edition, which will contain all the same material listed above, plus new extras like a featurette called "Fraggle Songs: A 45 minute Musical History of
Fraggle Rock", plus an episode of the 1987 cartoon version of
Fraggle Rock called "The Great Fraggle Freeze". All told, the features and the supplements are said to run 170 minutes together.
The release date is
October 19th, and it won't be limited to any particular chain this time. Many popular retail chains such as Best Buy are already planning to stock the
Fraggle Rock - Where It All Began: Special Edition DVD, or you can just
pre-order it now from Amazon. List price is $16.99, but Amazon will cut you a deal for 30% off if you place your advance order right now! Here's the cover art:
