Following up on recent reports of a
Canadian DVD release for second season episodes, fans south of the border have been wondering when
Flashpoint - Season 2 discs would show up State-side. This morning CBS DVD and Paramount Home Video provided the answer, announcing a
May 25th release date for that title.
The running time provided by the studio is 337 minutes. However, we wonder if there might be some sort of a mistake with the times somewhere on either side of the border, or if we're just seeing preliminary "guesstimated" times here, because that's noticeably less than the 383 minute running time given for the Canadian "
Season 2, Volume 1" release from Phase 4 Films, which is available in March.
That's not the only difference between releases in the two countries: the extras have changed in the USA release, to include Featurettes about the Weapons and the Stunts in the show. Except for knowing that the video aspect ration on this release is widescreen, no other details are available so far, nor do we have package art at this time. But stay tuned, and we'll update you just as soon as we can!
UPDATE: The studio has sent retailers some additional information about this title, including the early cover art shown below (could be subject to change). This will be a 2-disc set with 9 episodes on it. The first season set from CBS/Paramount contained 13 episodes on three discs. A pair of our readers pointed out that in Canada, CTV aired nine episodes for the first season, and thirteen for the second (per the network's
online episode guide. So which episodes are aired in which season are broken out differently between the two countries, which may account for the differences in the DVD releases for each territory. Our thanks to Jared Munson and Lou Renzo for clearing that up for us!
