The Dukes of Hazzard - You Want More Dukes? The Rumors Say You're Gonna Get 'Em!

2 Post-Series Telefilms Reportedly Being Worked On For DVD!

During the successful 7-season run of The Dukes of Hazzard, there were two attempts at spin-off shows before main series ended: 1980's Enos (centered around Hazzard County's good-natured deputy) and 1983's animated effort The Dukes (featuring the voices of the live-action show's cast, including "Coy" and "Vance" at first and then, after Shneider and Wopat returned to the main series, "Bo" and "Luke" instead).

Warner Home Video is aware that fans are wanting both of these short-lived shows on DVD, but they've decided to take care of some other unfinished business first, we hear. Two post-series telefilms are rumored to be coming to DVD in Summer 2008, we're told by reliable sources: 1997's The Dukes of Hazzard: Reunion! and 2000's The Dukes of Hazzard: Hazzard in Hollywood.

Most of the main cast reunited for these features, with just a few unavoidable exceptions: Sorrell Booke, who played "Boss Hogg" in the series, had passed away before "Reunion!", and that production marked Denver Pyle's last outing as "Uncle Jesse" before he passed away. Ben Jones showed up in both, though, even though he had been a U.S. Congressman in real life prior to the '97 telefilm...so they made his character, "Crazy" Cooter Davenport, a representative as well! Waylon Jennings did not return for either effort, though, and neither did the show's old theme song "Good OI' Boys". So John Schneider and Tom Wopat sung "Carrying On" over the opening credits of "Reunion!" while country star Don Williams narrated the story. Later on, for "Hazzard in Hollywood", Mac Davis took over the Balladeer chores, singing "Good Times" and narrating the action..this time, stepping in front of the camera to do so! In "Reunion", you can spot C.S.I. Miami star Emily Proctor show up for a bit, by the way.

The Dukes of Hazzard telefilms should show up together on one DVD release, with 2 discs, right around the beginning of Summer, we're told by sources who only spoke on condition we would keep them anonymous. If this is popular, then hopefully Warner will wrap up the adventures of Hazzard County with releases of Enos and The Dukes as well. We are certainly keeping an eye on all of this, so stay tuned.
