The Complete 1st Season

One Day at a Time - In-the-Works for DVD, All at Once...NOT One Season at a Time!

Mackenzie Phillips spills the beans about 'The Complete Series'

Posted by David Lambert
In 2007, The Complete 1st Season was released on DVD by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Since then, none of the remaining seasons of the 9-season sitcom have been put out on DVD. Fans of the legendary show starring Bonnie Franklin, Valerie Bertinelli, and Pat Harrington, Jr. as the memorable superintendent, "Dwayne Schneider," have longed for more. Now the actress who played older daughter "Julie" on the series has revealed that we're about the get the entire thing!

This past Sunday Mackenzie Phillips posted on Facebook, saying that, "The entire 9 seasons of ODAAT will be released on DVD in time for the holidays! Our interview (bonus material) yesterday was hosted at the home of the lovely #PeterMarshall. - with Glenn Scarpelli."

Loyal fans will remember that Scarpelli joined the cast in the sixth season as "Alex Handris," son of "Nick Handris" (Ron Rifkin), who was the new romantic interest of "Ann Romano" (Bonnie Franklin). Scarpelli remained a main cast member through the eighth season. He's pictured at the Phillips post on Facebook, with her and Peter Marshall (Hollywood Squares), who evidently hosted the interview for this DVD bonus material. We've got that image duplicated for you below.

Our thanks to one of our readers,"John," for being the first to take time and tip us off about Mackenzie's Facebook post. Keep in mind, though, that the timeframe she gave ("in time for the holidays") may not be finalized yet, and could be subject to change. She doesn't say which studio is releasing this (Sony might have licensed the sitcom's DVD rights out to a third party), but as of this writing no studio has formally announced One Day at a Time - The Complete Series to the press...or, to our knowledge, to retailers. Stay tuned, of course, and we'll update you, as further developments occur!
