Hollywood is today mourning
the tragic loss of film director and TV show producer Tony Scott, which we
posted about on our Facebook and Twitter feeds this morning. One of his final collaborations with his brother, Ridley Scott, is the upcoming mini-series
Coma, based on the Robin Cook novel (as was the 1978 Michael Crichton-directed film starring Geneviève Bujold). The new 2-episode production (two hours each) will air on the A&E network this Labor Day, and the day after, and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is already announcing a DVD release of this for
October 30th.
Please note that the timing of this is coincidental to the tragic news; Sony had previously planned on this title's announce date being today, and the info automatically went out this morning with no relationship to Mr. Scott's passing.
Starring Lauren Ambrose (
Six Feet Under; Torchwood: Miracle Day), the cast also includes Ellen Burstyn, Geena Davis, Richard Dreyfuss, James Woods and Steven Pasquale. Running approx. 160 minutes total, the show is presented in anamorphic widescreen video, English 5.1 audio, closed captioning, and subtitles in English and French. Cost will be $38.99 SRP. Package art isn't available yet, nor extras (if any), but stay tuned for updates!
