Chopper One - DVDs for the One-and-Only Season, Co-Starring Dirk Benedict

MOD release from Sony is scheduled for late July

Posted by David Lambert
During the first half of 1974, the ABC network aired Chopper One starring Jim McMullan (Ben Casey, Dallas) and Dirk Benedict (The A-Team, Battlestar Galactica). The show was about a pilot and observer on a California police helicopter, and their Captain was played by Ted Hartley and the mechanic was played by Lou Frizzell. The program was Executive Produced by Aaron Spelling and Leonard Goldberg, and ran for 13 half-hour episodes.

Guest stars included Richard X. Slattery (C.P.O. Sharkey), Dabbs Greer (Little House on the Prairie), James Naughton (Gossip Girl), Michael Ansara (Broken Arrow), Mark Lenard (Star Trek, Here Come the Brides), Dick Van Patten (Eight is Enough), Allan Arbus (M*A*S*H), William Lucking (Sons of Anarchy), Ford Rainey (The Bionic Woman), and Nick Nolte (The Prince of Tides, 48 Hrs., North Dallas Forty).

There's been no formal announcement from the studio yet, but VideoETA - a site produced by distributor Ingram Entertainment - is showing that Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release the one-and-only season of the show this July 26th as "Chopper One - Season 1" on DVD. This title will be a manufacture on demand (MOD) item, priced at $30.99 SRP. Details and box art haven't been released yet, but stay tuned!
