Back in mid-April we brought you
the press release from Time Life, formally announcing their
September 25th DVD releases of
The Carol Burnett Show. We quickly
followed up with studio-supplied answers to various reader questions, but one question we couldn't answer at the time was about pricing for these 4 different sets. Now, thanks to Amazon's just-added pre-order listings, we can fill you on costs for the 3 of these sets which will be available at general retail:
the single-disc title is $12.95 SRP; the
2-disc set is $22.95 SRP; and
6-DVD collection is $59.95 SRP. No word on the 20-DVD "Ultimate" set, because that will be sold exclusively through TimeLife.com's website, and it's not up for pre-order there quite yet. However, that's the one to get...and I HAVE been informed by my contact at Time Life that the plan is that "
YES, the 20-DVD set will have ALL the bonus features"...so any extras found on the three at-retail sets will all be found on the big "Ultimate" package, too; if you're a huge fan and invest in the big collector set, there's no reason to double-dip and purchase one of the lesser titles, too. Good new, right? Stay tuned and we'll bring you full details, pricing, and package art just as soon as we can. Our thanks once more to reader "Stephanie" for helping us out with finding these Amazon listings.
UPDATE (5/30) - One of our readers, Byron Kolln (thanks!), alerted us overnight that Amazon has temporarily removed their pre-order listings for the 3 retail titles of The Carol Burnett Show. We checked in with our contact at Time Life, and they confirmed that this happened because someone jumped the gun: the listings at Amazon shouldn't have been posted quite this early. They'll be restored to Amazon in the future.
