The "Golden Collection" releases
may be over, but the "Spotlight" releases apparently are continuing! This morning Warner Home Video announced the
October 13th release of
The Looney Tunes Spotlight Collection Volume 7 on DVD. This 2-disc set, the only
Looney Tunes title announced by the studio today (previously they've often announced two at a time), will cost $26.99 SRP.
In our story linked above, from a year ago, we passed along word from the studio and reliable industry sources (close to these releases) that Warner would continue with post-Golden-Collection releases, and that there were no plans - at least at the time - to duplicate existing cartoons on future releases. Apparently those plans have changed, at least for the short term.
The below list of content for
The Looney Tunes Spotlight Collection Volume 7 was provided by the studio with this morning's announcement. If accurate (we've made two small changes to spelling errors; otherwise the list is copied-and-pasted from the studio info), then the 26 shorts on this new title will have ALL been previously released as part of the first three
Looney Tunes Golden Collection volumes, as noted:
- Baseball Bugs *
- Rabbit Seasoning *
- Long-Haired Hare *
- High Diving Hare *
- Bully for Bugs *
- Beep Beep **
- Going Going Gosh **
- Zipping Along **
- Stop! Look! And Hasten **
- Ready Set Zoom **
- Guided Muscle **
- Gee Whiz-z-z-z **

** = previously available on Disc 2 of The Looney Tunes Golden Collection Volume 2
*** = previously available on Disc 4 of The Looney Tunes Golden Collection Volume 3
Fans who have been buying all of the
Golden Collection releases will obviously have no need to pick up this title. It is most likely aimed at more casual fans, who have been collecting the previous
Spotlight releases all along. Video for this set is listed as full frame, audio as English Dolby 5.1, and the running time given is 105 minutes. No extras have been listed at this time. Here's a look at the package art provided by the studio:
