Today Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced 2 different Blu-ray Disc format releases of
Battlestar Galactica, both due out just after the Christmas holiday and streeting a week apart from each other.
Battlestar Galactica - Razor will be available on
December 28th, on a single disc, costing $26.98 SRP. Although the title, as announced, does not currently say "Unrated Extended Edition" as
the 2007 DVD release did (and the package art isn't available yet), the Blu-ray version carries the same 101 minute running time (meaning it should be the exact same cut of the feature).
In fact, it's probably safe to say we expect it to be identical to Disc #15 in the already-released
Blu-ray set of The Complete Series. If that's the case (and we don't KNOW that it is, but it's highly probable that they'll just re-use the same master for this individual version), then it would include both the Unrated Extended Edition and the broadcast version of
Razor as well, plus these extras:

January 4th, will be the high-def Blu-ray Disc version of
Battlestar Galactica - Season 4. Selling for $89.98 SRP, this 6-disc set includes EVERY episode from the show's final season. Yes, even those released on the 2009 Blu-ray version of "
Season 4.5"! AND it also includes the
Battlestar Galactica - Razor disc that's described above (which seems like a strange move, since that comes out separately just a week earlier). Besides high-def 1080p video and English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 sound, there will be subtitles in English, French and Spanish. Bonus material on Disc 1,
Razor, should match what's listed above. The extras on Discs 2-6 are as follows:

the same as the DVD design for "
Season 4.0," but with the BD banner along the top. The below art, however, is NOT the final version you will see on store shelves. It's a simplified "circular" version meant to be used as a thumbnail in weekly store ads (hence the over-large font size, and the simple white lettering in the logo instead of the usual silver-white-and-red design). If we get an updated version of this packaging, OR the packaging for the individual
Razor Blu-ray release, then we'll bring it to you just as soon as we're able to. Stay tuned!
