The first "production season" of
The Batman, the Kids WB animated 2004 take on the legendary Dark Knight Detective, consists of 13 episodes:

- Call of the Cobblepot
- The Man Who Would Be Bat
- The Big Chill
- The Cat and the Bat
- The Big Heat
- Q & A
- The Big Dummy
- Topsy Turvy
- Bird of Prey
- The Rubberface of Comedy (Part 1)
- The Clayface of Tragedy (Part 2)
The first three episodes were
released on DVD this past May, and the next three
were released on DVD in September. Also, a reader named "Joshua" informed us that when the newest live-action film,
Batman Begins, hit DVD a few weeks back, it was available at Wal-Mart with an exclusive bonus disc (not a "free" disc, mind you...it cost about $5 more for the bundle, and was only available with the single-disc version of the film) that contained the final two episodes of
The Batman's first season, "The Rubberface of Comedy" and "The Clayface of Tragedy". I have confirmed that this indeed was available, and so a total of 8 of the 13 first-season episodes have been made available on DVD so far (although the vast majority of the fans had no way of knowing about the last two).
No worries, though...Warner is preparing for a
February 7th release of
The Batman - The Complete 1st Season. It will cost $19.98 SRP for a single disc (possibly double-sided? We're not sure) that will contain all 13 episodes. Extras, if any, have not been mentioned so far. We do know that there will be an opportunity to get a bonus DVD: a "Free DC Comics catalog DVD" will be available by mail to all purchasers; you will have to pay $3.25 shipping and handling to get it, though. That's all we know so far, but we'll get back to you with full-sized box art plus any additional info we pick up just as soon as Warner makes their official announcement. Stay tuned!
