As many
Airbender fans already know, the animated series is coming to an end soon, as Nickelodeon has revealed that they will air the final episodes "every weeknight during the week of Monday, July 14th", and then conclude with a special 2-hour installment on Saturday, July 19th. That last is expected to be the the four-part finale, "Sozin's Comet," which will likely be broken up into half-hour segments for re-runs later on.
Back in mid-April we
reported that Nickelodeon and Paramount Home Entertainment would release the show's final episodes on DVD, with their
July 29th release of
Avatar: The Last Airbender - Book 3: Fire, Volume 4. Coming just 10 days after the finale airs, it will contain "The Southern Raiders," "Ember Isle Players" and "Sozin's Comet". This morning Paramount provided a first look at the rear cover art for
Book 3: Fire, Volume 4, and we've got it for you below. It confirms the bonus commentary tracks, and also verifies which episodes are included, revealing in the process the subtitles for each of the four parts of the finale:

Of course, if you prefer the entire third season in one fell swoop, don't forget that September 16th sees the release of Avatar: The Last Airbender - The Complete Book 3. And don't worry, because this isn't the end of Airbender! Major filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan is in the process of adapting the property into a trilogy of live-action theatrical films, with the first of the three supposedly to hit the box office on July 2nd, 2010. You WILL believe that a bison can fly! (Oooh...I can't believe I just made that joke.)
