Angie - VEI Has Plans for a First-Ever DVD Release of Donna Pescow's Classic Sitcom

Look for it during the second half of 2015, according to the Toronto-based studio

Posted by David Lambert
Visual Entertainment, Inc. (VEI) is well-known in North America for TV-DVD releases (in both the USA and Canada) of some highly acclaimed television shows, including Cagney & Lacey, The Equalizer, Nash Bridges, Hell's Kitchen, Diagnosis Murder, McMillan and Wife, In Search Of..., The Mod Squad, John Byner's Bizarre, (Chef Gordon) Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, and many more. Now the Toronto-based studio is announcing that in the 3rd and 4th Quarters of 2015 they are releasing a huge slate of new TV-DVDs, and one of the classic television programs included in that slate will be Angie:
This Golden Globe nominated comedy was created and produced by Garry Marshall, whose credits include TV classics like "Mork& Mindy" and "Happy Days." It stars Donna Pescow as Angie, a middle class girl who marries wealthy Brad Benson (played by Robert Hays) and finds that adjusting to a much different lifestyle, "ain't so easy."
This show is just ONE item taken from a very impressive list of 12 named shows (see our eleven other news posts today for those items). NOTE that specific release dates have NOT BEEN SET so far...nor do we have details or package art at this time, either; just the heads-up to expect this release during the second half of the year. Also, VEI's president, Jeff Sprigg, notes that there are "Many More Releases Coming!"

The Philadelphia-based shows ran in 1979 for 2 seasons, featuring the popular theme song "Different Worlds." Show stars Donna Pescow (Saturday Night Fever), Robert Hays (Airplane!), Debralee Scott (Welcome Back, Kotter) and Doris Roberts (Everybody Loves Raymond) were joined by guest stars such as Dolph Sweet (Gimme a Break!), Peter Scolari (Bosom Buddies, Newhart, Girls, Gotham), Adrian Zmed (Grease 2, T.J. Hooker), Danny DeVito (Taxi, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia), Richard Dawson (Family Feud, Hogan's Heroes) as himself, Corey Feldman (The Lost Boys, Stand By Me), Ellen Travolta (Charles in Charge, Joanie Loves Chachi), G.W. Bailey (Major Crimes, The Closer, M*A*S*H), Susan Duvall (The Wire), Florence Halop (Night Court), Michael Tucci (Grease, The Paper Chase, It's Garry Shandling's Show, Diagnosis Murder), and Rhea Perlman (Cheers, The Mindy Project). VEI's upcoming release will be the first time this sitcom has come out on DVD. Stay tuned for updates, as further developments occur!
