America's Next Top Model - DVD Plans for 'Cycle 6,' 'Cycle 7' and 'Cycle 8'

No availability date yet, but Amazon/CreateSpace is taking advance MOD orders for DVDs of all three titles

Posted by David Lambert
In 2005, Cycle 1 hit stores on DVD. Then, between 2012 and 2014, MOD (manufacture on demand) releases of Cycle 2 through Cycle 5 were made available for online purchase. This past December, the show's latest cycle (season) featured the debut of Rita Ora as show host, taking over for Tyra Banks as the reality show moved from The CW (where the show started, back when The CW was still UPN!) to VH1. Episode broadcasts of that cycle just wrapped a week ago today...but what about more DVD releases? Well, don't worry: CBS Home Entertainment is preparing THREE new MOD sets to walk down the runway for you!

Release dates for these haven't been finalized yet; Amazon's CreateSpace MOD program has listings up (see below) but those all merely say, "This title has not yet been released. You may pre-order it now and we will deliver it to you when it arrives." Cost is $34.99 SRP for each 3-DVD set. Here's what to expect:
  • America's Next Top Model - Cycle 6:
Themed "Fairy Tales Come True," the sixth Cycle of "America's Next Top Model" finds 13 contestants vying for the coveted title, a modeling contract with Ford Models, an Elle magazine cover and fashion spread, and a $100,000 deal with CoverGirl cosmetics. During the nail-biting competition, the models find themselves in unexpected and precarious situations including posing for a photo shoot bald, walking the runway with live, giant hissing cockroaches, competing for a chance to win a guest role on "Veronica Mars," and while in Bangkok and Phuket, Thailand, riding and posing on elephants. Cycle 6 includes guest appearances by Nick Cannon ("Men In Black II") and super model Janice Dickinson. Originally broadcast in Spring 2006, Cycle 6 marks the last season UPN aired the hit reality series on UPN, before the network merged with The WB to create the CW.

  • America's Next Top Model - Cycle 7:
Tyra Banks leads a new season of "America's Next Top Model" in Cycle 7, dubbed "The Competition Won't Be Pretty" as 13 young women contend for a $100,000 CoverGirl contract, an Elite Model Management deal, and a cover and six-page fashion spread in Seventeen magazine. During the high-pressure, high-stakes series of competitions the models walk the catwalk suspended over water, pose in a photo shoot with romance novel cover boy Fabio, learn the fundamentals of being sexy from a burlesque icon, visit Barcelona and more. In Cycle 7, famed make-up artist Jay Manuel joins the panel of judges. Guest appearances and judges this season include beauty guru Frederic Fekkai, Queen Latifah and "Entertainment Tonight" correspondent Mark Steines.

  • America's Next Top Model - Cycle 8:
Fashion designers, stylists, makeup artists, photographers and more join super model and series creator Tyra Banks in "America's Next Top Model" Cycle 8. Themed "Welcome to the Jungle, Ladies," 13 young women set out for $100,000 CoverGirl contract, an Elite Model Management deal, and a cover and six-page fashion spread in Seventeen magazine. From walking a prom runway shoot, posing nude as different kind of candy treats, to quickly learning and speaking with an Australian accent while in Sydney, Australia, the young women face new fashion, social and business challenges and learn personality is as part of the game to being judged on their overall appearance. Cycle 8 features guest appearances from rapper 50-Cent, Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, Tia Mowry and Efren Ramirez, among many others.
Our gratitude to longtime reader Caleb Stark for being the first to e-mail us about these listings. Here's the cover art for each of them (may not be finalized yet, and could be subject to change):
