About a month ago we
posted the release date for
7th Heaven: The Complete 1st Season on DVD (
Sept. 14th). At the time we didn't have any other information.
Now the title is up for pre-order at online e-tailers such as
DVDEmpire.com and
DVDPlanet.com. Looking at their information, and some others, we get a clearer picture of what this release will look like.
It will be a 6-disc box set, in full-frame video, with all 22 episodes from the season running around 18 hours long.
The list-price shown by various e-tailers is all over the place, with examples like DVDPlanet saying the SRP is $59.95 and DVDEmpire claiming it to be $89.95. Actually, Paramount has decided not to declare a suggested retail price on this, as is their custom on most TV-to-DVD box sets. So each retailer is displaying an "SRP" of their own invention, to demonstrate the difference between what they clain the studio says you "ought" to be paying, and their discounted price. Paramount names only the price they think it ought to street-price for (the stored-discounted price), and each store decides whether or not to follow it. The best thing to do is simply to shop around and get the best deal that you can!
Cover art isn't available yet, nor is there any word yet about extras. We'll let you know if we find out anything, though, so stay tuned!
