In 2005, Anchor Bay released the first two seasons of the hit sitcom
3rd Rock from the Sun on DVD, starring John Lithgow, Jane Curtin and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Fans were upset with these sets, however, because they contained the edited-for-syndication versions of the episodes. Anchor Bay's contract for the home video rights is up, though, and last year all six season sets they put out were discontinued.
As you may know, Mill Creek Entertainment has recently licensed the program from Carsey-Werner, and is planning a
September 13th DVD release of
3rd Rock from the Sun - The Complete Season 1 and
3rd Rock from the Sun - The Complete Season 2. This time, however, they promise to deliver "The Complete, UNCUT Original Broadcasts Edits" of episodes from each of these seasons. This will cost a bundle to double-dip on, right? NOPE! Mill Creek is pricing these titles (two discs for the first one, and 3 discs on the second) at a mere $9.98 SRP each.
