BONANZA follows the High-Sierra adventures of the Cartwright family - wise patriarch Ben Cartwright and his three dissimilar sons, Adam, Hoss and "Little Joe" as they attempt to maintain and operate their sprawling timberland ranch, the Ponderosa, in an era of violence and lawlessness in mid-1800's Nevada. BONANZA, one of the longest running and most popular of all television westerns, returns to DVD with The Official Fourth Season, Volume One and Volume Two.
Just the other day CBS/Paramount
announced the
October 2nd DVD releases of both
Bonanza - The Official 4th Season, Vol. 1 and
Bonanza - The Official 4th Season, Vol. 2. Now they've provided retailers with an early look at box cover art (seen below; is not final and may be subject to change) and a few new details about these sets. First, the studio would like to remind everyone that these episodes are completely new to DVD, and have never been part of any of the various public domain releases of this show. Second, they're teasing the resellers with word that both titles will have "
DVD-exclusive special features" on them...but no word yet on exactly what those extras will consist of! Finally, they're explaining that
Volume 1 is a 5-disc package with 18 episodes on board, and that
Volume 2 is a 4-disc set with the remaining 16 episodes from that season. Visitors to the Ponderosa this season include the likes of Denver Pyle, Claude Akins, Robert Vaughn, Dawn Wells, Victor French, Edward Platt, Keir Dullea, Slim Pickens, John Milford, Ellen Corby, Harry Dean Stanton, Dick Miller, Ford Rainey, Dabbs Greer and Carroll O'Connor.
