A month ago we brought you Shout! Factory's
press release announcing a Summer release of
Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids - The Complete Series on DVD. That studio document didn't give a street date, but listings at Amazon.com and Shout! Factory's online store showed that the plans were for a July 31st street date.
Now
a Twitter post yesterday from @ShoutFactory has alerted us that "
Fat Albert got bumped :(," and a look at the
Amazon pre-order listing shows that a release date is no longer displayed. And if you need any further proof that it's temporarily off the schedule, then a look at
the entry at Shout!'s online store, which puts the title back into "placeholder" mode (including this: "
Please note: The 12/31/2012 release date to the left is merely a place-holder and does not reflect any true release information regarding this project") ought to convince you that it has indeed been bumped from the schedule for now.
No word has been provided about the reason for the change, or how soon it will return to the schedule. All the indications, however, are that this title is still in-the-works. And Shout!'s usual reasons for a delay would be to make the title better for fans, so this is almost certainly a GOOD thing. Stay tuned, of course, and we'll update you more as further developments occur. In the meantime, you can still pre-order this package and lock in your copy!
